AAC Board Chairperson Transition

The AAC is currently celebrating its one year anniversary as a 501c3 non-profit! With that milestone, the board will also transition the chairperson role from Harry S. Watkins to Susan MacBryde, effective June 1, 2020. Both are founding board members.

During Watkins’s tenure as board chairperson, he was instrumental in the AAC becoming incorporated and then approved by the IRS as a 501c3 non-profit organization registered in the state of Arizona in the U.S. Watkins has overseen the legal and administrative growth of the organization as it defined its vision and mission, developed and saw to the creation of its initial website, and produced the AAC’s original marketing materials, using them in introductory education sessions which accrued supporters for AAC projects.

“Harry has been the foundation stone of the AAC,” said Susan MacBryde. “Without his drive and inspiration, I’m certain we would not have the strength and success we’ve achieved so far as an organization. Both his executive managerial skills and his experience as a learned professor have served us well. He may be stepping to the side, but his keen insights and unwavering dedication to the future of the indigenous communities and to the preservation of the biodiversity of the Amazon will remain close and continue to strengthen our efforts and assure our success.”

MacBryde will serve as board chairperson for a period of one year. She brings to the position a 30 year career in non-profit marketing, public relations, fund development,  organizational management and community organizing. She also served for four years in the U.S. Peace Corps with posts in Armenia and Jamaica, volunteering as an NGO Specialist. Her strongest interest is in community development, finding ways to unite peoples and organizations in shared efforts towards harmonious, productive and innovative community living.
